Today we fly home. Dad smiles and waves. His pilot cap holds tiny souvenirs. My red backpack rests. My yellow-strap camera hangs ready.
The plane lands. The city shines below. We walk through the airport. Hello, home city. I breathe in. I feel brave and happy.
We ride a city bus. I tap my card. Doors hiss open and close. I watch people and streets. The bus rumbles past tall buildings.
I show Dad my favorite green park. Trees wave slowly. Kids play tag and laugh. Benches shine in sun. We say hello to the gardener.
I chase a leaf and wander. The path turns and turns. Dad is behind trees. I feel a little lost. I stop and look around.
A boy waves to me. He has short curly hair. His green striped shirt is bright. He says, Hello, I am Sami. I say, Hello, I am Omar.
Sami helps me find Dad. We wait by a park map. Dad comes smiling and grateful. Thank you, Sami. We can go see a bridge.
We all walk to the tall bridge. It rises over wide water. Boats move below us. Wind ripples the river. We lean and watch the shimmering city.
Yesterday, we were in Istanbul. Today, my city feels new. The bridge gleams and sings. The water sparkles brightly. Sami points. He knows great views here.
Near the bridge, a ginger street cat appears. It blinks slow green eyes. White paws step soft. It looks just like the cat in Istanbul.
We sit and pet the cat. It purrs and curls its tail. The wind smells like water. The city hums, beeps, and honks.
We ride the city bus again. Sami taps the red stop button. Doors open wide. People say excuse me, please. We hop off near my home.
My city is big and kind. I can explore here. I can learn here. I lift my camera. Click. A happy photo of home.
Dad tucks a tiny ticket in his cap. We thank Sami. See you soon, friend. Today, we come home. Home is wonderful too.
