Today Omar flies with Dad. Dad is a pilot. Their plane crosses blue clouds. Omar holds his red backpack. His camera has a yellow strap.
They arrive in bright Tokyo today. Signs glow in two languages. Dad points to a train. A fast silver bullet train waits. Omar says, Konnichiwa, Tokyo!
The bullet train doors slide open. Seats shine neat and clean. The train can go very fast. Houses and trees blur past. Omar holds Dad's hand.
They step into the city. Tall buildings shine with screens. Taxis and buses pass. Dad says, We see Shibuya Crossing. Omar nods and checks his camera.
They reach the huge crossing. Big screens show bright ads. Lights change. Music beeps. People wait on every corner. It is the world's busiest crossing.
The walk sign turns green. People flow from every side. Dad holds Omar's hand. A push comes from behind. Omar can't see Dad.
Omar stops and looks around. A boy waves from the curb. He has round glasses. He wears a green jacket. His name is Kenji.
Kenji says, Konnichiwa. I can help. Omar says, Thank you, Kenji. Kenji holds Omar's hand safely. They cross when lights change. Dad waits on the corner.
Omar hugs Dad tightly. Dad says, Thank you, Kenji. Kenji says, Arigato, Captain. Dad tucks a tiny ticket inside. It sits in his cap.
They stand with Kenji and watch. The crowd grows and grows. Thousands of people cross together. Lights blink. Music beeps again. Omar can see many ways.
Kenji leads them to noodles. A small shop smells warm. Steam rises from big bowls. They share a bowl of noodles. Dad says, Tokyo food is cozy.
After lunch, they walk past shops. A small white lucky cat waves. It sits in a window. The paw moves up and down. Omar smiles at the cat.
Omar lifts his camera with a yellow strap. He frames the waving cat. Click. A photo for his journal. Today he keeps this memory.
The sun sets on bright Tokyo. Omar says, Goodbye and thank you. Kenji waves from the station. Yesterday we were new here. Today Tokyo feels like a friend.
