Sun shines on the sports centre. Inside, a green table waits. Max and Jo walk in.
Max wears his red number 7 shirt. Blue goggles sit up. Jo wears green. Her whistle shines.
A green table tennis table stands ready. A white ball sits. Two red bats wait.
Max holds a red bat. He feels excited and a bit scared. He wants to try.
Jo taps the ball to start. Max swings fast and misses. The ball flies past.
Swing, miss. Swing, miss. Max looks sad. Jo blows her silver whistle. She says, Watch the ball.
Keep your eye on it. See it bounce. Wait. Then hit. Slow and easy, Jo says.
