Today the Puzzle Patrol watches Maple Street. Zoe holds her red magnifying glass. Marco draws in his sketchbook. Kiki checks her flashlight. Waffles sleeps.
Zoe points at Waffles bowl. The bowl is in the wrong place. It was here this morning. Waffles blinks. Who moves a bowl today?
The friends visit Mr. Aldo's bakery. Balloons hide behind bread racks. A ribbon tip peeks out. Flour footprints sprinkle the floor. Mr. Aldo hums.
Outside, everyone smiles extra wide. Mrs. Diaz smiles. Mr. Ito smiles. Kids whisper because something fun happens. But no one tells the Patrol.
Back at the shed, they write notes. The blue casebook waits open. Zoe says, Follow the clues. Kiki nods. Marco draws footprints.
They ask Mr. Aldo about balloons. He laughs and shrugs. He sweeps flour, but leaves prints. A red ribbon sticks to their bag.
The clues point everywhere at once. Flour prints go toward the park. Ribbons flutter near the library. Whispers drift by school. Which way now?
Waffles chooses a sunny spot. He sits, then sleeps. He sleeps on a ribbon knot. Zoe laughs. Waffles finds the biggest clue again.
They tug the ribbon under Waffles. The ribbon leads to the shed. Lantern light glows inside. Soft whispers rise and stop. The friends listen.
Zoe counts three. They open the door. Everyone jumps and shouts, Surprise. The shed bursts with balloons and lanterns. Color fills the small room.
Mr. Ito smiles. Mrs. Diaz waves. Mr. Aldo claps. It is the club birthday. One year of solved cases. Maple Street thanks the Patrol.
Mrs. Diaz brings warm muffins. Mr. Ito plays his flute. Mr. Aldo shares sweet rolls. Waffles wears a tiny hat. Everyone laughs and cheers.
Zoe stamps the blue casebook, 'Best case ever'. Marco says, 'Case closed!'. Kiki pours juice. They share snacks in the shed. Waffles naps content.
